The North San Juan Protestant Cemetery is an unusually well preserved and beautiful cemetery and has served as a place of interment since 1851. It holds the remains of hundreds of individuals, with many life stories related to the Gold Rush. The grave monuments within its boundary are exceptionally varied in design and represent fine examples of gravestone art and symbolism. Situated in a lovely tree covered setting, it is one of the best examples of nineteenth century burial customs and history. It is a County historical landmark.
